Karate superstars shine in international tournament

Jarel Tobias Esterhuizen and Acelia Esterhuizen who participated at the Top Ten Kickboxing Team Challenge together with deputy mayor of the eThekwini Municipality, Cllr Fawzia Peer.

Two of Kamalinee Primary’s School’s karate stars, Acelia and Jarel Esterhuizen represented their school in Team South Africa when they went up against Team Canada at the Top Ten Kickboxing Team Challenge held at the Bernard Sports Stadium in Johannesburg, recently.

The sister and brother team proved that dynamite really does come in small packages with Acelia obtaining two gold and one silver medal and Jarel also achieving two gold and one silver medal at this prestigious event.

The event was attended by the deputy mayor of eThekweni Municipality, Fawzia Peer, who met with students from all backgrounds including the underprivileged students at the seminar.

In addition, the mayor also took the opportunity to congratulate the fighters that represented KwaZulu-Natal at the challenge and those fighters who participated against the Canadian team.

She was impressed with the development which is taking place within the kickboxing and martial arts fraternity in KwaZulu-Natal and all over South Africa. Teams from Durban Central, Overport, Chatsworth, Isipingo and Umlazi were present. The government and SASCOC showed support for this initiative.
