Armed assailants rob Montclair garage

A local garage was robbed by two armed men in Montclair, recently. According to a police report, the complainant was on duty with his colleague at the till when the suspects stood behind customers in a line, pretending to be buying items.

One of the robbers immediately jumped over the till with a backpack and held the men at gunpoint. The other suspect started to load cigarettes in the bag and ordered the complaint to open the till.

The assailant removed R1, 000 from the till.  The armed men also robbed customers of their personal belongings which included cellphones and cash.

Communications officer of the Montclair SAPS, Cpt Derek Vijiam said that the suspects fled the scene in a silver BMW double cab and no one was hurt during the incident.
