Malvern man taken on terror ride

The car which was stolen and later found abandoned.

A Malvern resident was taken on a terror ride after he was hijacked by suspects in the area, last Saturday. It is believed that as he pulled into his driveway, he was accosted by the hijacking suspects who sped off with him still inside the vehicle.

According to police reports, the suspects drove towards Isipingo. Communications officer of Malvern SAPS, W/O Radhika Marimuthu said, “The suspects then realised that Malvern SAPS had issued an alert out for the vehicle. The vehicle was left abandoned by the suspects in Isipingo Hills with the driver inside.  The victim together with the vehicle were brought back to Malvern SAPS for DNA and fingerprint processing.”

Station commander of Malvern SAPS, Lt Col Valarine Reddy said that the practice of taking the victim with the vehicle and leaving both the victim and vehicle has occurred in neighbouring police patrol areas.
