Free upgrading of driving licence to code 10

Afro Fleet, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Chatsworth Youth Centre and the Lenny Naidu Development Institute, are putting in place a driving up-skills programme for unemployed people in the community.

Youth (between the ages of 18 and 35) with a code 8 drivers licence will be upgraded to a code 10 licence. The one month programme will empower youth to seek employment in trucking companies or in the taxi industry.

The interesting concept will enable youth to be empowered for free and they will be taught with the latest technology using a simulator and then be tutored through a driving school.

The people driving the programme will oversee the payment of learner’s licence and other costs. In order to qualify, they must have a code 8 licence, be between 18 and 35-years-old, have a South African ID, have no criminal record and speak English.

Anyone interested in the programme must attend the Careers, Skills and Employment Expo on Saturday, May 20, at the Chatsworth Youth Centre between 9am and 2pm. Look for the information stall and hand in your CV with a copy of your ID. For more information, contact Clive Pillay on 061-429-2574.
