Celebrating the classroom mum

As we prepare to honour all phenomenal and loving mums this Sunday, May 14, let us not forget the important role that teachers play in the lives of the children within the classroom.

This special occasion should also serve as a time to celebrate the ‘classroom mum’, who in addition to being a teacher, also provides her pupils with warmth, care, guidance and an abundance of love.

Just like mothers, teachers also care a great deal about their children and will go beyond the call of duty in teaching them to differentiate between right and wrong.

Renowned author, Elaine Heffner once said that the art of mothering is to teach the art of living to children and in keeping with these profound words, grade R teacher at Addington Primary School, Rowena Rampersad together with her ‘classroom babies’ join the staff and management of the the website in wishing all mothers a beautiful, joyous and truly memorable Mother’s Day. Never forget that to the world, you are only a mother, but to your family, you are the world.
