A ‘touch’ of success for rising musician

Floyd Chetty.

Moorton resident, Floyd Chetty (19) who plays the main guitar is on the break of releasing his album, entitled ‘Perfect Touch’.

The instrumentalist will be working alongside Navron Chetty and Mangreys production. The album will feature Neville D and Khaya Mthethwa, who have helped in the success of the production.

After being inspired by his motivational mother and musician father, the vocalist began singing his way to success. The former pupil of Asoka Secondary School said that he is ready for a tour in and around his home with his three man band, ‘Redeemed’.

“I do hope to get more youth involved in our band and I feel it will serve as a way that I can give back to my community for their faith in my music,” he said.

Chetty said that he is thankful for his parents who have guided, supported and encouraged him to embark on the new journey ahead.

It all began at Tehillah Ministries, when the musically talented individual joined the church together with his family and participated in the praise and worship, every Sunday. This sparked an ambition and passion the young lad could not resist. Training alongside supportive family and friends, the young lad’s voice became a melodious note he mesmerised listeners with.

He believes that his inspirations have come from well-known artist, Israel Houghton. “I listened to him sing and I knew that’s what I wanted to do one day,” he added. He concluded, “To all the upcoming vocalists, never back down from your dreams. Remain persistent.”
