Sharing their love for art with the community

The artists display their beautiful paintings at the successful function.

As one walks into the Art on Kingsway Pop-up Gallery, they are not only greeted by extremely friendly artists but also by beautifully created artwork, which speaks volumes of the talent in the sunny province of Durban.

Following the successful launch of the pop-up gallery, last month, a special cocktail evening once again took place at the venue, which is situated at the Caltex Toti Oasis.

It was an explosion of art and colour as guests and art lovers gathered at the function, which aimed to promote local art and talent.

The talented artists, namely Venila Govender, Jill Knight, Rina Cairncross, Marie Mansfield, Ritha Fenske, Beula Van Rooyan, Zelda Coetzer, Anna Viljoen, Hazel Nunes, Brenda Pratt, Patricia McCann and Ann Waterson were excited to have their amazing paintings once again featured.

It is evident that each artist has their own sense of creativity however, their love and passion for art certainly is the same.

Speaking to many of the artists at the glitzy cocktail evening, they said that having the opportunity to display their art is an absolute privilege.  The artwork required not only a lot of time but also patience and great attention to detail.

They extended a warm invitation to members of the public to come through and have a look at the amazing work on display.

“As an artist, there is no greater joy than knowing that your work has been appreciated. It is often said that life is a great, big canvas and that we can throw all the paint we want on it. We live by these profound words every day.  Our advice to up and coming artists is to simply be confident, have patience and paint out your heart,” the bubbly artists explained.

A special raffle was also part of the evening’s programme and guests were treated to a variety of beverages and delicious canapés. The gallery is opened from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, Saturday from 9am to 2pm and Sunday from 10am and 2pm.
