Double celebration for Westcliff Secondary School

Westcliff Secondary School hosted a successful Valentine’s Day programme in light of its 50th anniversary, recently. Staff members and pupils enjoyed the special function.

Fifty years ago, the school opened its doors to service the educational needs of the Westcliff community. This year marks the golden jubilee of this well-known institution of teaching and learning.

The school has broadened its horizons to embrace the democratic ideals of the new South Africa and to reflect a multicultural and language diversity. This microcosm of the larger society that Westcliff Secondary serves embodies the belief that an educated pupil liberates from the shackles of poverty.

The school stands as a beacon of hope. The holistic educational ideal is an investment that feeds into the country’s vision of a better future for all its citizens. The highlight of the function was when pupils walked away with amazing prizes.

In addition to this, 50 helium balloons were released to set in motion the beginning of many more celebratory events. The overwhelming success of this endeavour is ascribed to a dedicated committee with the enduring support of the principal, staff and the Smart Club of the Westcliff family.
