Chelsea completes the Midmar Mile

The bubbly lass will participate in the Capital K Swim at Midmar Dam in November.

Grade five Hillary Primary School pupil, Chelsea Pillay, achieved her dream of swimming the gruelling 1,6km Midmar Mile relay, last Saturday.

Speaking about the eventful day, the avid swimmer, who was a member of the Bayview Swimming Club for two years, said that it was a scary but thrilling and exciting experience.

“I often visited the Midmar Dam with my family and always dreamt of swimming the Midmar Mile. I decided to attempt the relay and it was a very exhilarating experience. It took me 51 minutes to complete,” she said.

The bubbly lass will participate in the Capital K Swim at Midmar Dam in November, together with her sister, and thanks her coach, Frank Moses, for training and encouraging her.

Her mum, Lee-anne Pillay, said she encouraged her daughter to swim from an early age due to the health benefits associated with swimming and added that she is proud of her daughter and her achievement.
