Double murders in Malukazi

Police believe there is a connection between two murder cases that occurred in Malukazi on Wednesday evening.  According to police reports, the first victim was shot at when he tried to escape a house fire that was believed to have been started by the perpetrators.  The report stated that the unknown number of suspects used petrol to ignite the fire.

“The victim tried to escape by kicking down the door.  The suspects spotted him during the escape and shot him three times in the back. The man died at the scene from his fatal injuries,” the report stated.

In a separate incident in Postum Road, the suspects went to the house of the deceased who was seen sitting on the floor.  The suspects fired a shot at the man hitting him in the upper chest.  The attackers fled from the scene without taking any items. The deceased was discovered by family members and was immediately rushed to hospital where he later died from the gunshot wound. Police suspect that the shooting was a hit.

One suspect has been arrested and the other suspects are still at large. The motive for  the murders are unknown at this stage.  Investigations are ongoing.
