ABH thanks community for overwhelming support

The management, staff and residents of the Aryan Benevolent Home (ABH), situated in Arena Park, expressed their heartfelt thanks to Durban residents for their simultaneous outpouring of support with the donation of groceries.

The home was victim to an armed robbery three weeks ago when brazen criminals made off with goods worth thousands of rands. Thanking the public for their overwhelming support, board member, Nirode Bramdaw, said that the grocery needs have been met until year-end and that the home operates on a monthly deficit of R1, 1 million, which the organisation meets through fundraising initiatives.

“The main fundraiser is the Diwali Radio-thon, which will be held on Friday, October 28, commencing at 7am. The event is held in collaboration with Radio Hindvani which will be aired live from the ABH Chatsworth campus. This non-profit organisation was founded almost 100 years ago and takes care of more than 700 indigent people daily. We provide a home and six meals a day to the aged, frail, mentally and physically challenged, the orphaned and abused from all races and religions. We turn darkness into light for the hundreds of lives we touch daily. We urge the public to bring light into someone’s life this Diwali by participating in our Diwali Radio-thon in partnership with Radio Hindvani,” he added.
