School hosts Supersport United FC

The pupils form a guard of honour to welcome the team.

There was great excitement among Umbilo Secondary players as the entire Supersport United Football Club graced the school in Wentworth, last Thursday.

The captain of the club, Dean Furmin and the coach, Stuart Baxter, introduced the team players to the delight of the excited pupils.  The purpose of the visit was to expose pupils to a national team and to engage with the players.

The pupils were taken through their paces when all the players got involved in a session of coaching. Legendary player, Mr Jabu Pule, also known as Jabu Mhlangu, advised pupils to stay away from drugs and alcohol and to focus on their football skills.   His motivational talk was enlightening and an inspirational.

The visit was arranged by Paul Makhanya from ENGEN, the sponsoring company of Supersport United.  Makhanya also handed over a soccer kit to Brian Muller, principal of Umbilo Secondary school.

Soccer players from neighbouring schools, Assegai Primary, Wentworth Primary and Wentworth Secondary School were also invited to share in this momentous occasion.

The school would like to thank Paul Makhanya from Engen for organising an unforgettable experience for the pupils.
