UPDATE: Wanted cash-in-transit robbers nabbed

Two men involved in a cash-in-transit heist on September 25, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court, yesterday. They were remanded in custody and the case was postponed to October 14 for the bail application.

The two accused, Siboniso Khumalo, 27 and Sipho Ngubo, 34, who faced charges of robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm,were nabbed after robbing a vehicle while it was stationary at a robot near South Coast Road.

The suspects had jumped in at the back of the vehicle and pointed the firearm at the security guard. The robbers then loaded an undisclosed amount of cash in their bags while the driver was driving towards Cato Manor. The driver stopped the vehicle and the suspects jumped off and fled the scene.

The Hawks were alerted and a case of cash-in-transit robbery was opened at the Montclair SAPS.  The members in  blue left no stone unturned in their investigation and the two were arrested. An amount of R376, 220 and a 9mm pistol were recovered.
