First flea-market in Chatsworth attracts hundreds of shopaholics

Residents took full advantage of the special bargains.

There were words of praise and excitement from both stall-holders and visitors at the start of Chatsworth’s biggest flea-market that started on the first Sunday of this month.

Thousands of people flocked to the Inner-Circle Flea-Market at the Nelson Mandela Chatsworth Youth Centre for an almost carnival experience. With over 120 diverse stalls from food to trendy clothing, picture-frames to wedding dresses, cool live music, dancers, children playing games at stalls and a whole lot more, this initiative has certainly been welcomed by locals.

Organised by the Revolution Motorcycle Club and youth centre volunteers, the flea-market is going to grow into a place people would want to be, on the first Sunday of every month. Stall-holders and visitors had pleasant things to say about the market from the organising, the set-up and the location. A comment box was also filled with great responses.

The next market will be held on Sunday, October 2 from 9am to 4pm and is expected to be bigger and better. The organisers are trying to get larger variety of new stalls that sell toys, fishing and outdoor lifestyle equipment (tents, braai stands, hiking boots, garden), motor-sport accessories, sports equipment, hand-made crafts, prayer goods, engraving, fortune teller, second-hand furniture, clothes and tools, more children friendly stalls and a bigger variety of international foods.

Stall-owners can come in on Friday and Saturday this week between 9am and 1pm to fill in an application forms for a stall. Stall-holders who were at the last market need to also re-apply. For more information, call Tekiesha on 084-460-8601, Radha on 083-788-2160 or email [email protected]
