After trying to evade the police, a 31-year-old woman was arrested for being in possession of a large quantity of dagga, in Wentworth, last week.

Wentworth SAPS Vispol members received information regarding drugs being delivered to a flat in Woodville Road and followed up.

The police officers proceeded to the flat and demanded entry. The woman responded and after noticing that it was the cops, she tried to lock the door with a padlock.

The officers then forced the door open and the suspect ran into the bathroom and pushed the door closed. A female officer followed her and pushed the door open. The suspect was found inside the bathroom sitting on the toilet seat. The police officer then noticed a plastic packed with dagga, which was inside the toilet.

133 plastic packets in total were seized by police. The seized items were already packed to be sold. The drugs weighed 298.4 grams and had an estimated street value of R650, 00. The woman was arrested and will appear in the Wentworth Court.

“The police applauded the community for the positive information that was provided and it shows that the community and the police can achieve a lot if they work together in fight against drugs. The officers are also commended for their hard work,” said Wentworth SAPS communications officer, Cpt MP Gumede.
