True sportsmanship displayed at CADSSA Friendship Games

The Chatsworth and District Schools Sport Association hosted the 2016 edition of the friendship games, recently. Teams from Tongaat and Verulam (Tonver), Phoenix, Pietermaritzburg and Chatsworth participated in various sporting codes, such as volleyball, table tennis, chess, soccer and netball.

Pupils from primary and secondary schools in the age groups under 11, under 13, under 15 and under 17 participated. The pupils showcased their skills against each other. The friendship games afforded an opportunity for budding sports stars to display their skills at inter-regional level. The sports fields of Chatsworth were buzzing with some exciting games in various codes of sport.

The friendship games are about seven years in existence and have grown immensely in popularity. The CADSSA table tennis teams performed outstandingly. They were coached by Mr P Ramdeo and Mrs K Naidoo. The table tennis teams swept aside all competition and won six gold medals.

At the closing ceremony, the friendship games flag was officially handed over by the chairman of CADSSA to the chairman of the Phoenix and Schools Sports Association who will host the 2017 friendship games.
