Driver survives terror ride with hijackers

The Montclair SAPS is urging motorists to be extra cautious when travelling in the Mobeni vicinity after a man was hijacked at the corner of Leceister Road and Higginson Highway, recently.

According to police reports, the complainant was traveling Toyota Hilux, when he was approached by the two armed suspects.

He had been waiting to make a U-turn when the men appeared at the car door. It is believed that they pointed the firearm at the victim and demanded him to open the door. Out of fear, he complied and the suspects then jumped inside.

The victim was pushed to the back of the vehicle and one of the suspects then drove towards Umlazi.

He was then pushed out of the vehicle in Umlazi and the suspects fled with the vehicle and his belongings.

Montclair SAPS communications officer, Lt Derek Vijiam said, “A case of hijacking is currently being investigated. We urge residents to be cautious of their surroundings and to be on the lookout for any suspicious men in the Mobeni area.” If you have any information, contact the Montclair SAPS on 031 469-8212.
