Violent crimes are often offences which involve force such as aggravated assault, forcible rape and robbery.

In an effort to curb the increase in such crimes, it is important for residents to be equipped with helpful tips and hints.

Protection should always be highly prioritised at all times and it is therefore, with this reason that the website has decided to publish the following tips.

  • Don’t walk or jog during early hours of the morning or late at night especially when streets are deserted.
  • Carry only the amount of money you will need on a particular day. Try not to carry large sums of cash.
  • When out at night, try to have a friend or family member walk with you.
  • If you think someone is following you, trust your instincts. Switch directions or cross the road. If the person continues to follow you, move quickly to an area where people are present.
  • When approaching your parked off vehicle, ensure that you have your keys close by.

  • If you are in an abusive relationship, seek help immediately.
  • If someone tries to rob you, give them your belongings.
