Justice was served when an Umlazi man was sentenced to 30 years behind bars after he was found guilty of raping a four-year-old child.
The accused, Mthunzi Bhabs Khumalo, committed the crime twice in 2010. According to police reports, on May 2, 2010, Khumalo (31) raped the child in Umlazi.

On May 19, 2010, he called the same child while she was playing on the road and ordered her into a room where he raped her for the second time.
He was arrested in July 2010 for two counts of rape.
Sgt Temperance Gumede and Sgt Thabane Hopewell Majola from the Umlazi FCS were lauded for their professional and excellent investigational skills.

The acting cluster commander of the eThekwini Outer South, Brig Vukani Mgobhozi applauded the investigating officers for their good work as well.
“I hope this sends a clear message to all criminals that they will be caught and put behind bars for a long time if they hurt and abuse children or women,” he warned.
