A committed policewoman from Malvern SAPS was highly lauded after her sterling investigation led to the conviction of three accused, who robbed a local food store, recently.
Communications officer of the station, W/O Radhika Marimuthu said despite challenges from 2016 to the final date of the trial, W/O Ragini Dalais remained persistent and worked tirelessly on the case.
On the day of the crime, the accused targeted a local food store and fled the scene with cash.
“Acting on information, the investigating officer together with the Malvern SAPS detective branch swiftly arrested the accused. They were remanded in police custody,” she said.
W/O Marimuthu further explained that during court proceedings this month, W/O Dalais opposed bail at several hearings and ensured that the accused remained in custody.
Her dedication and hard work definitely paid off as the accused were handed hefty sentences.
Two of the accused in the case were convicted for armed robbery and received 15 years each.
The third accused received 30 years for two counts of armed robbery with aggravating circumstances.
“Leading up to the convictions, W/O Dalais remained steadfast and determined ensuring that the long arm of the law prevailed,” added Marimuthu.
The acting station commander of Malvern SAPS, Cpt Mano Govender commended W/O Dalais on her dedication to service in ensuring that justice was served.
