Dakota settlers care for their beaches

Dakota Settlement residents got down and dirty in a beach clean-up operation in Isipingo, recently.

Their efforts saw the beach look much cleaner than before.

They collected about 95 bags of paper and plastic. DSW Isipingo assisted the locals which included children volunteering their services, to collect all the bags by 1pm.

More than 30 residents and children showed their support for the clean-up campaign.

They spent the morning together and then tucked into a sumptuous lunch which the MRS Hardware team supplied.

Although 95 bags seemed like a lot of work for them, the group said there is a lot more that needs to be done to clean up the dunes as well as the shoreline.
