St Mary’s Primary School held a mass meeting with parents focusing on safety issues in the wake of the increase in child kidnapping cases.

Principal of St Mary’s, Roshan Ramdheen, said, “We cannot sit idle by and let things happen, we have to become proactive and protect our pupils by taking all measures possible.”

A safety group was set up made up of volunteers and parents to monitor the entrance and exit of the school during the morning and afternoon periods.

It is hoped that the presence of the monitors would serve as a warning that they will protect the children at all costs.
