Isipingo SAPS, in partnership with Airwing SAPS (ORS) Durban, hosted an exciting career day for grade nine female pupils, recently.
Thirty grade nine young ladies from each of the three secondary schools in Isipingo, who were interested in making aviation their career, were invited to attend the programme.
Acting detective commander of Isipingo SAPS, Det Cpt Precilla Naidoo, spoke to pupils about social media especially cyber-crimes and dangers of befriending strangers on social media.
Cpt Hlalukana, the Human Resources head of the Airwing, spoke to pupils about the requirements in joining SAPS especially in aviation.

Lt Col TYA, a helicopter pilot with the Airwing, spoke to the young women of the subjects required for Avionics and informed them of aviation schools available.
Cnst Dlamini, a female ALEO at the Airwing SAPS, informed pupils the duties of an ALEO in aviation Senior Pilot from the SAA, Theo Ragavan entertained the pupils with interactive games and the requirements needed in Commercial Piloting.
They also received a motivational talk from the unit commander, Col Parsotam.
Communications officer of Isipingo SAPS, Cpt David Ragavan said, “The pupils and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the event and found it extremely exciting and informative. A special thanks to the facilitators at Airwing SAPS and Theo Ragavan as well as the Isipingo Women’s Forum for spending the day with the pupils, encouraging them and providing them with refreshments.”
