Law enforcement officer, Don Baijnath said, “So far, three residents, including a pensioner, have been charged with fines from R3, 000 to R5, 000.”
He explained that the municipality wants to send out a strong message to residents that illegal dumping will not be tolerated in the community.
“The Parks Department is currently cleaning up the areas in question. I also thank the residents, who have informed me of those, who have been dumping. Illegal dumping is an on-going problem which needs to be eradicated,” he concluded.
Residents, who notice any form of dumping taking place in their neighbourhood, are urged to inform law enforcement officers.
