Strong team work by a Blue Security armed response officer working closely with the Amanzimtoti Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) and the police led to the arrest of a wanted house break-in suspect and his accomplice when the team swooped on their homes following a tip off.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios said the company’s top performing local officer, known as ‘MMM’ or ‘Triple M’ had swooped on the suspects together with the CCPO and Amanzimtoti detectives following a house break-in in Entombeni Road.
He said at least one of the suspects, who was wanted for multiple burglaries, appeared to be a whoonga addict.
“We received a tip off regarding a house break-in suspect just as our officer was about to embark on a joint operation with the CCPO and police around the beach areas in Amanzimtoti.”
The team decided to immediately follow up on the information, which took them to a house in Ezimangweni where they swooped on the first suspect, who was still asleep, surrounded by stolen goods.
“The team recovered bags of stolen items including a laptop, an Xbox, cable extensions and a child’s school bag that had been taken during the housebreaking in Entombeni Road,” he added.
Mathios said further information led the officers to another house, where a suspect wanted for many months in connection with multiple housebreaking incidents, was arrested.
“There, the team recovered more stolen goods such as tablets, jewellery and a bag. They also managed to locate a stolen flat screen television that the suspect had handed to a community member. The television was then handed over to the police,” Mathios said.
All of the recovered stolen goods had been handed over to the police and the suspects were taken in police custody to the Amanzimtoti police station. The suspects are both facing charges of house break-in.
