Founder and designer of EatMee Recipes, Denisiya Hemraj, who is a food blogger since 2016, has a large collection of recipes, including many South African favourites as well as a variety of other delicious cuisines.
The Yellowwood Park resident has a web and graphic design business called Devly.
The food fanatic specialises in various South African favourites as well as a variety of other delicious cuisines, some of which have even been adapted from recipes that have been in her family for decades.
Each recipe has step by step images to help home cooks during the process of the preparation of meals. This site is for amateur cooks as well as the experts.
EatMee Recipes was a runner-up on South African Blog Awards 2017 for the Best Food and Wine Blog.
Hemraj said, “My goal is to help those in need of cooking lessons. Many people out there think that it is a tedious or difficult process but it’s fairly simple as I was once in the position of not knowing how to cook at all because my family always spoilt me by preparing meals for me.”
The passionate chef added, “I eventually moved out and had to figure out how to prepare home cooked meals as nobody can live on take-outs forever. My family helped me out with numerous recipes to get me started and over time I have also created a few recipes of my own. These recipes are available on my website.”
She recently created a review page on her blog whereby she shares her personal experiences at some of the restaurants that she has visited.
This just lets people know what to expect when visiting these restaurants or take-aways. “I also have a Facebook group which is linked to my blogs Facebook page. The group is called South African Food-EatMee.
This group has over 40, 000 members who contribute recipes and share daily meals on a regular basis.
“Most of these members have also tried and tested some of my recipes from my blog and are always happy to share their outcome once they have prepared it,” Hemraj said.
EatMee Recipes also runs competitions from time to time and to participate in these competitions, residents can subscribe to their newsletters on the website or simply like the Facebook page for updates.
