In commemoration of Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday anniversary, a 2018 Nelson Mandela school sleep-out will be held and Moorton Heights Primary School is proud to announce that two of their pupils were chosen to be brand ambassadors of this exciting initiative.
Maheshan Naicker and Keenan Pather are ‘agents and pupils of change.’
They were among many others, from different provinces, who had to submit various write-ups and presentations online in order to stand a chance of being successfully selected.
The pupils will be flying to Gauteng for a training bootcamp programme and sleep-out. The sleep-out is being held at the Lilliesleaf Museum and Farm in Rivonia.
On their return, these ambassadors will then have to host a sleep-out, which will be held at the Nelson Mandela Youth Centre on Saturday, August 4.
The event is open to pupils aged between nine and 18 years, who will be required to register to attend.
An appeal is made to those who attend to support the chosen beneficiaries for the event by donating items of need. The sleep-out will be a great opportunity to experience what life is like sleeping outdoors and in the cold.
