Opening the doors to extended learning

Representatives from Richfield University of Technology, Dr Smita Ramson (UKZN), Ms Shobana Mandraj, Dr J Naidoo, SGB members and excited pupils from the school.

The management of Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology and Dr Smita Ramson (UKZN) sponsored resource material to the value of R30, 000 towards the library at Dawnridge Primary School, situated in Moorton.

The books are to upgrade the resources in the school library. The current project is to ensure that the library is technologically friendly with the various teaching aids.

The representatives from Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology, Vinesh Asaram (director for coastal cluster), Craig Gokhale (chief academic officer) and Neroshan Govender (institutional support manager), were enthralled at the potential of the pupils as they performed on stage, many of whom come from the various informal settlements surrounding the school.

The sponsorship was made possible by the generous networking set-up by the director in the Provincial Department of Basic Education, Shobana Mandraj.

Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology offers a vast array of courses for school leavers and for those interested in improving their current qualifications.  The management pledged to offer discerning students scholarships in future years.

The principal, staff, SGB and pupils acknowledge and appreciated the generous sponsorship from the benefactors.
