Fire victims thank community for tremendous support

Members of the community raised funds to assist the fire victims.

The victims of the recent fire in Merebank thanked the community for their incredible support during their time of need.

Social media was amazing as within minutes of the victims’ plea being posted, assistance started flooding in from far and wide. They managed to get clothes, cutlery, crockery and appliances including fridges and stoves.

Co-ordinator of the relief project, Sharin Rajman said, “I would like to thank members of Helping Hands and ACM for distributing clothes and groceries, Merebank Care Pharmacy for allowing members of the community to use their premises as a drop off point and Cllr Amar Ramkissoon and Rugs Naidoo for their assistance and donations.”

She also thanked the landlord and Lotus FM for their contributions and support. The project is now closed but Helping Hands continuously embarks on outreach and poverty alleviation programmes in the South Durban basin.

If any organisation wants to create partnerships, contact the chairman of Helping Hands, Sharin Rajman on 083-786-6972.
