The five council members who were elected were Gonum Moodley, Sheila Chetty, Rita Moonsamy, Gan Naidoo and Dees Bhagwandin. Members were treated with a sumptuous lunch at the end of the meeting.

The club was founded by Prof Nash Ranjith, who was the former head of the Coronary Care Unit at the RK Khan Hospital about 30 years ago.

The aim of the club was to cater for rehabilitation of patients who were treated for heart ailments at the hospital. The members follow a strict rehabilitation programme which was designed by Prof Ranjith specifically for the patients who meet at the hospital gym every Monday and Friday.
