Five primary schools with about 320 male pupils in grade seven underwent a workshop on a programme called ‘No Apologies’, recently. This is a programme by ‘Focus on the Family’ designed for young men on character building. Different codes of discipline, setting of goals to achieve a vision, alcohol and drug abuse as well as abstinence were discussed.

The programme was facilitated by Shailen Singh of the House of David Community Centre. “We targeted these pupils because of the numerous incidents reported by the principals and teachers of the secondary schools on the poor discipline of grade six and seven pupils,” Singh said.

Communications officer of Isipingo SAPS, Cpt David Ragavan said, “These young men will experience a new environment next year and we want to prepare them by teaching and equipping them for such environment.”

They thanked the House of David Community Centre for the programme and their partner, South Coast Bus Service, for the safe transport they provided for pupils.
