Suspects arrested with heroin worth R24, 000 in Bayview

A joint operation conducted by the eThekwini Inner South Cluster Crime Intelligence operatives together with the Durban Metropolitan Police yielded positive results after two suspects were apprehended for being in possession of heroin in Bayview, recently.

Communications officer of the eThekwini Inner South Cluster, Cpt Cheryl Pillay confirmed that police seized 800 heroin capsules worth an estimated R24, 000. “The arrested suspects, aged 33 and 36, will appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court soon,” she added.

Acting cluster commander, Maj Gen Mandlenkosi Chirwa assures the community of Bayview and surrounding areas that police will root out the proliferation of drugs.

“Through the informer network, police will strategically plan and co-ordinate intelligence driven operations to clamp down on illicit drug activities. Police will squeeze criminals out of society ensuring that they are placed before the criminal justice system,” he added.
