The Umlazi SAPS Communications, Social Crime Prevention, Umlazi CPF, and Community Safety volunteers embarked on a school monitoring programme, recently.

The programme will include public meetings with parents, pupils and staff to address the issues of substance abuse, drugs, bullying, theft, gender-based violence and human trafficking.

Police believe that as much as school subjects are important, so is educating pupils on subjects relevant to the community to prevent crime and ensure school going children are safe.

The police would like to begin the year by encouraging pupils to be aware of the challenges they might encounter by being pupils at school.
