Crossmoor couple, Morgan Govender (71) and his lovely wife, Tilly, are a true testament to the saying, ‘love at first sight’.
The loving couple recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and fondly looked back on the years they have spent together.
Mr and Mrs Govender met during a Sunday morning church service and fell in love instantly. They courted for three years and during this time, developed a deep-rooted understanding and respect for each other.
Morgan said, “While we were very much in love since our initial meeting, we have to admit that marriage is hard work. Vowing to spend your life with someone is a commitment, which should not be entered into lightly.” The pair tied the knot at a beautiful Christian wedding ceremony held at a church situated in Durban Central.

Their happiness grew in leaps and bounds when they were blessed with three children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. In their spare time, Mr Govender, who is an evangelist, enjoys working with cars while his beautiful wife enjoys baking.
Mrs Govender’s specialty is a decadent fruit cake which is her family’s favourite treat. Their words of wisdom to younger couples is to always cherish each other.
“Often, newly married couples take the easy way out and get divorced. Commitment is essential and only cowards take the easy way out. Prayer is also very important for a happy marriage,” Mr and Mrs Govender said.
