A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged for possession of drugs after he was found with dagga during a search in Wentworth on Tuesday.
According to police, members of Wentworth SAPS Vispol were patrolling the area after they received an intelligence information about a man selling drugs in Craigness Place in Austerville.

Upon arrival, W/O Brigetta, Sgt Mazibuko and Cnst Ndlovu saw the accused who fitted the description given to them. Communications officer of Wentworth SAPS, Cpt Mbuso Gumede, said the accused was searched and had already made sloops of dagga wrapped in white papers.
“He was found in possession of dagga and was arrested. The accused was released on bail of R500 and appeared in the Wentworth Court the next day,” said Cpt Gumede.
The same officers were given information about drugs in Richardwinn Road and dagga weighing 1027 and 165 ready made sloops of dagga wrapped in white paper were found.

The items were seized by the police. He added, “Dagga or any other drugs are not legalised and police will arrest and charge anyone found to be in possession of drugs. Youth must stay away from drugs and focus on education.”
