Brighton Beach SAPS hosted a flyer campaign to create awareness on the consequences of selling and purchasing stolen goods.  The purpose of this flyer campaign was to encourage the rejection of any offer to buy stolen goods, and to report those who make an offer to sell or who are trading in stolen goods.

Sub-section media officer, Cpt Le Roux, encouraged people of Brighton Beach to report the theft of an illegal trade in copper cable and other non-ferrous metals during the flyer campaign.

Cpt Le Roux also mentioned that the demand for stolen property increases as the market for stolen items grows over the festive season period.

“As we embark on the festive season an influx of those with criminal intention rise. We urge residents in our policing area to lock up and lock out criminals. Do not let your private belongings form part of the stolen goods property trade,” he said.

Brighton Beach SAPS expressed its thanks and appreciation towards the Hill Side Mall and Bluff Towers Mall management and tenants for affording them with a platform to host this project. Cpt Le Roux was also acknowledged for creating the brochure and distributing the 1000 flyers during a three-hour foot operation.
