Peace education is defined as a learning process in which to acquire the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to live in harmony with others, with oneself and with the natural environment.

As part of a campaign to promote the concepts of peace education in schools, the Food for Life Children’s Projects, in conjunction with other civil society organisations is developing a peace education learning pack.

The prototype pack consists of laminated A4 sheets that define the concepts of peace education and also have various quotes by great personalities such as Mother Teresa and Dr Nelson Mandela.

Manager of the project, Divesh Maharaj, indicated that peace education inculcates important life skills in children to equip them to handle conflict resolution and create a harmonious, peaceful environment in schools and in the community.

In this respect, peace education can be an important trans-formative response to current issues. Various ongoing programmes on peace education are planned for 2018. For more information, send an email to divesh@fflsa.org
