A die-hard John Legend fan lived out her dream when she was invited to slow dance with the singer on stage during his ‘Darkness and Light’ tour concert held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday.
Montford resident, Karen Leah Andrew, who is still awe-struck from the legendary experience, said she attended the concert with her best friend, Sarah Venketapathy. The friends spent the night enjoying their front row seats while singing at the top of their voices to all of their favourite songs.
Andrew, who is 30-years-old, described the experience as her ‘plot twist for 2017’. She said, “This was the most mind-blowing moment of my life. Sarah and I were taking selfies, when the tempo went low. I bought back row tickets and my good friend, Craig Chetty wanted me to experience what the front row would feel like so he sold me his. I was extremely excited when John asked for a fan to come up on stage and I moved to the front of the crowd. I was wearing a white cap because of the inclement weather that night and the next thing I heard was John asking for the ‘girl in the white cap’ to come up on stage with him.”

The bubbly fan who also attended the ‘An Evening with John Legend’ concert in 2014 said that her heart melted when she was asked to dance with the multi award-winning singer.
“I generally get stage fright and I was so excited yet nervous but John comforted me. He started singing ‘Slow Dance’ and danced with me. It was truly a dream come true. He also kissed me on my cheek. It was a magical moment like nothing I have ever experienced before. I definitely look forward to his next concert,” she added. Andrew also has Legend’s hit, ‘Sure Fire’ set as her ringtone.
