Kamalinee Primary School’s long list of achievements is largely due to its phenomenal principal, Jagatheesan Naidoo.

The 58-year-old started off as a teacher at the school and has been the principal for the past 20 years.  Naidoo was inspired by his primary school teacher and struggles as a child to pursue his dream of becoming an outstanding and well-respected teacher.

Naidoo serves his time moulding and shaping the lives of many teachers and pupils as the principal. In an interview with the Rising Sun, the principal shared his secret to success.

“I grew up in Chatsworth and as a small boy I admired my grade one school teacher. She got me interested in studying teaching. After completing my academic schooling career, I wanted to study further and pursue my long awaited dream.  My family was not rich and we found it extremely difficult to make ends meet. But in spite of the difficulties, my father was able to get a student loan for my first year. I began studying at Springfield College and was given a bursary for my excellent results,” he said.

Treat children as if they are your own and help them discover their purpose in life. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my supportive colleagues for always standing by my side. Your hard work, time and love towards your passion has been the backbone of the schools success. Let’s continue to build our success together and shape our children to become better people,” he said.
