International recognition for Chatsworth pupil

The dedicated pupil is an inspiration to the community.

Grade 11 Star College pupil, Ryan Ramiah was chosen to present his chemistry project at the Genius Olympiad 2017 held at the Oswego State University in New York, recently.

The Arena Park resident who was awarded a silver medal for his innovative project, that was evaluated by a panel of international judges, said, “I was happy to have been chosen to represent my country in this prestigious event. I never expected to be placed among the awardees and I am extremely pleased.”

Ramiah also had the honour of carrying the South African flag on stage at the opening ceremony with representatives from the participating countries. The young lad is very grateful to his teachers.

“Mr Bayjev believed in me and I am thankful to him for his guidance. This achievement has proved to me that hard work, dedication and sacrifice will be rewarded, maybe not immediately but the rewards will surely come. Having a deep sense of spirituality has also helped me in my studies,” he said.
