Meadowlands Secondary’s class of 1977 reunites

The pupils dressed to impress and enjoyed catching up at the glittering function.

After many years out of school, the grade 12 class (standard 10A) of Meadowlands High School celebrated its reunion at the Savera Hotel, in Kharwastan, recently.

The former pupils, now in their fifties, enjoyed an exciting evening together celebrating their 40th reunion. The co-ordinators of the function, Dr Vasu Govender and Dr Nad Govender did a splendid job in tracking down their fellow classmates and putting together a superb programme.

The guest speaker was Mr PT Govender who was a senior English and History teacher at the school in 1977. The current principal, Mr SV Naidoo, also addressed those present.

Those present expressed a desire to give back to the Meadowlands community by setting up a Legacy Fund to assist needy pupils in accessing tertiary education or other important post grade 12 qualifications in the technical field (learnership and/or apprenticeships).
