Speaking to the Bluff mother, she explained that she was inspired by her mother tongue to write texts books. “I have been writing texts books for the past 36 years. My passion for reading and writing started at a young age and after leaving school to study, I joined the educational field in New Delhi and started writing text books. I studied towards my Masters in Science and found myself wanting to make a difference by using my knowledge,” she said.

The 63-year-old added that her texts books are written for grade 11 and 12 pupils and recently published the two texts books in India called ‘Home Science’. “My text books were written while doing my master’s degree. At the time, I did research projects for UNESCO and started linking writing to what I learnt over the years.” she said.

The mother of two said that her family always motivates her.  “My husband has always supported me, we participate in many initiatives done by the rotary club for area. Our most recent work was at the vocational training centre in Nsimbi Township where we provided porridge to over 2000 children in crèches. I started a new nutrition education programme for pregnant women and young mothers. I also teach hygiene and sanitation to young children,” she said.

Sirohi believes that it’s not about how much we give, but how much love we put into giving that makes the reward greater. She encourages all members of the community to go out and make a difference.
