Dance extravaganza to promote local talent

The stage is set for Mala Lutchmanan to present the 27th annual dance extravaganza performed by the students of the Krish Swamivel’s School of Dance on Saturday, May 6, at the Sibaya iZulu Theatre at 7pm.

Mala Lutchmanan is a household name in South Africa and hosts the Kodambakkam and Isai Mazhai show on Lotus FM.  After an absence of five years, Gunaseelan Sethuraman, from Bangalore, will return to appear on the local stage with energetic dance sequences.  This year, the students will showcase group dance styles in classical, folk and fusion in an attempt to bring out the greatness of Indian dance in South Africa.

The group dance will feature over 200 students from Chatsworth, Shallcross, Umkomaas, Umzinto, Port Shepstone and Phoenix areas.

Krish Swamivel’s School of Dance is an institute where the passion for dance is nurtured, showcases the Indian cultural treasures of SA by the youth in the divine art of dance.

The movement’s aim at preserving, promoting and popularising the cultural treasures of our land among people of all creeds and communities, particularly the socially backward, and to train the younger generation in the divine arts of dance and music in order to build them up in spiritual strength and self-discipline.
