The SAPS Umlazi Cluster which consists of eight police stations under its command, hosted their annual sports day and fitness assessment for its members, at the Isipingo Sports Grounds in Isipingo Beach, recently.

The day started out at 7pm, with a 5 km run/walk through Isipingo Beach and Prospecton. The members then underwent a medical examination, which included blood pressure test, height and weight measurement- Body Mass Index. The members then endured an hour of aerobics and shuttle runs. The eight stations also competed in a netball and soccer tournament.

The day then eased out as members partook in a “potjie” competition in which Saps Isipingo won. All participants were awarded medals and winning teams were give trophies.

“The annual fitness assessments are compulsory for all functional members of the Saps to ensure that members are healthy and well. This is an annual event and each station within the cluster is given the opportunity to host the event. We would like to thank all our sponsors for ensuring the event a success,” said Isipingo SAPS communications officer, Cpt David Ragavan.
