Two homes were left completely flooded after water pipes burst along Road 709 in Chatsworth, this morning. Resident, Janice Padayachee, who has been living in the area for over 45 years has voiced her frustrations, saying the pipes are old and need to be replaced.

“The municipality water pipes are a huge problem because when they burst, officials from the water department fix that certain part of the problem instead of replacing the whole system which has not been replaced in over 35 years,” she said. The frustrated residents of Road 709 were left without water for over two hours this morning after the water pipes burst.

“The municipality needs to hear our plight and come to our rescue. The pipes are a serious problem and they should be replaced,” said Padayachee. Some of the residents’ driveways have been completely destroyed, leaving them stuck indoors.
