Officers nab cash-in-transit robbers

Authorities at the scene.

PT Alarms, in conjunction with Isipingo SAPS, apprehended two suspects who were involved in a cash-in-transit robbery at Cambridge Crossings in Isipingo, recently.

According to reports, the suspects disarmed a Fidelity security officer and escaped with a cash box, which exploded before the suspect exited the store. SAPS members and security officers, who responded to call, noticed that the suspects ran in the direction of Lotus Road.

Reaction officer, Blessing then gave chase on foot. The suspects were spotted and a shootout between Blessing and the first suspect ensued. He returned fire and injured the suspect on both his legs. The second suspect was apprehended by the SAPS Civilian Unit.

Two illegal firearms from the suspects and one firearm belonging to Fidelity were recovered at the scene of the shooting.  The officer was commended for his good work in detaining the robber.
