Local creche visits Wentworth SAPS

Little David Educare pupils had the opportunity to visit the Wentworth SAPS.

Children from Little David Educare in Wentworth had the opportunity to visit Wentworth SAPS to learn more about the environment, recently. The pupils were escorted around the station premises in the community service centre and were informed about the various duties of the police officers.

They were taken to the Victim Friendly Centre situated inside the station building and were warmly welcomed by centre co-ordinator, Jenny Gomes. One of the centre volunteers, Pastor Wendy Augustine, gave the children a special talk. She gave the children advice and touched on topics such as respecting their parents and teachers and also not accepting anything from strangers. The children were also tested on emergency numbers to call when in trouble and many responded with 10111. The teachers were commended as it showed that children were taught how to report problems.

Wentworth SAPS would like to commend the Victim Friendly Centre for the excellent service they provide to the community. The centre deals with domestic violence cases and any type of abuse cases. They offer free counselling to the victims. For more information or if you need  help, contact the centre on 031-451 6255.
