Staff members assaulted during business robbery

Two staff members were allegedly assaulted during a robbery and shoot-out at the Giants Convenient Store in Crossmoor at 7am, on Monday morning.

It is believed that garage was robbed for an undisclosed amount of cash. The two staff members from the service station were transported to the nearest hospital for further medical attention and care.

According to communications officer at Chatsworth SAPS, Lt Cheryl Pillay, on Monday, September 21 at approximately 7am, a business robbery occurred at Giants Convenient Store in Crossmoor, Chatsworth.

“It is alleged that two male suspects had entered the store, one of whom was armed with a firearm. The suspects assaulted the workers and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, a Toyota Avanza, a laptop and cellular phones. At this stage, no arrests have been made and investigations are continuing,” Lt Pillay said.

Anyone with information with regards to the robbery is urged to contact the Chatsworth SAPS on 031 451-4200/ 4267/ 4310 or 4208.

Chatsworth SAPS is also appealing to residents, who have been a victim of crime to call the police as a first point of contact. Police have identified complainants, who report incidents to police at a later stage.

This is proving to be detrimental in investigating cases. All crime related issues should be reported to Chatsworth SAPS or to 10111. Chatsworth SAPS have officials deployed 24 hours and information can be filtered immediately to assist the complainant.
